Brian Wolf teaches BET to LCC Ag students

LCC Instructor Brian Wolf, who owns a small local ranch and specializes in Bovine Embryo Transplants, has been using and teaching the procedure to undergraduate students in the LCC Ag Program for years.

At most schools only graduate students are allowed to perform techniques such as BET, however LCC has undergraduates learning and performing these skills with regularity and success.

Students from Lassen Union High School who visited the LCC campus on April 29 were greeted by a giant spider to get a taste of what college life is like. In addition to visiting classes and hearing from Emmy Award Winning film-maker Don Gomez, they witnessed what happens to unsuspecting students when a giant spider is roaming around campus.

New ambassador program helps students succeed

The LCC Student Ambassador Program was started in the 08-09 academic year by Dean of Students Cary Templeton. As director and monitor of the program, Templeton said he is committed to helping students become successful. "The student ambassador program is about students helping other students and students being engaged in serving our community," he said.

After serving as volunteer Cougar sports consultant for the last five years I have decided its time to devote more time to organizing my baseball card and music collection as well as possibly writing a book on the history of sports in the local area.
I plan to continue to serve as public address announcer for LCC as well as some Lsssen High sports teams for at least another year as well as keeping active with my karaoke singing.

Lady Cougar softball ends season with eyes on next season

This season the Golden Valley Conference was one of the toughest leagues in Northern California and the Lady Cougars certainly found that out. Once again College of the Siskiyous was the dominant team going unbeaten at 20-0 (45-3 overall) with Shasta right behind at 15-5 (32-15).

LCC Baseball: too young to be a consistent team?

Despite losing more than twice as many games as it won, LCC's freshmen-laden baseball team ended its season on a positive note winning two of three games from the second place Shasta College Knights. Another bright note for the Cougars is that they had the Golden Valley Conference's leading hitter, Zack Garcia, who was named to the all-GVC first team.

LCC art students produce a new look for the college

The college recently granted me the permission to give LCC "A New Look." LCC was in need of promotional material for each of the department programs that offer a degree or certificate. I had been personally developing brochures for some of the various programs such as Graphic Design, Gunsmithing, and Fire Science, along with the LCC general brochure.

OPEN MIC NIGHTS: One Friday night of every month was dedicated to "Open Mic." Initiated by art instructor Doug Sheehy, the event featured any local talent with the courage to take the stage in the Cougar Corner. Entertainment ranged from musicians, to poetry, to Shakespeare.

Two-man art show attracts curious crowd

The two student art show was a success, with 50-60 art show viewers on April 3rd from 5-8 p.m. put on by LCC students Matthew Long and Richard Moore. There was a good turn out, Long and Moore each had at least 30-40 pieces of art on display. Matt Long, 31, said " I was pleased by the turn out.

Zombie Walk

Ashlee Evans sports her zombie getup May 9 at the ASB sponsored zombie walkathon.
Participants gathered at the Lion and the Lamb where they put on their zombie makeup and sang karaoke.
The approximately 20 participants then met at the LCC campus where they circulated the campus in costume to fundraise for student clubs.

Many of you use deodorant, so it's no surprise you've probably heard of these brands that are particularly awful: Old Spice, Gillette, Nivea, and worst of all, Axe. You'll wonder why these are all men's deodorants. Being a man, I have a knowledge of these products and I'm not exactly the authority on women's hygene.
