Students from Lassen Union High School who visited the LCC campus on April 29 were greeted by a giant spider to get a taste of what college life is like. In addition to visiting classes and hearing from Emmy Award Winning film-maker Don Gomez, they witnessed what happens to unsuspecting students when a giant spider is roaming around campus.
The day before Spring Break was tainted when LCC student Christopher Henry Armetta allegedly told his roommate Jason Dillow that he planned to shoot several LCC students and faculty during a large event such as the ASB elections that took place on April 6 and 7.
After serving as volunteer Cougar sports consultant for the last five years I have decided its time to devote more time to organizing my baseball card and music collection as well as possibly writing a book on the history of sports in the local area. I plan to continue to serve as public address announcer for LCC as well as some Lsssen High sports teams for at least another year as well as keeping active with my karaoke singing.
Despite losing more than twice as many games as it won, LCC's freshmen-laden baseball team ended its season on a positive note winning two of three games from the second place Shasta College Knights. Another bright note for the Cougars is that they had the Golden Valley Conference's leading hitter, Zack Garcia, who was named to the all-GVC first team.
OPEN MIC NIGHTS: One Friday night of every month was dedicated to "Open Mic." Initiated by art instructor Doug Sheehy, the event featured any local talent with the courage to take the stage in the Cougar Corner. Entertainment ranged from musicians, to poetry, to Shakespeare.
Many of you use deodorant, so it's no surprise you've probably heard of these brands that are particularly awful: Old Spice, Gillette, Nivea, and worst of all, Axe. You'll wonder why these are all men's deodorants. Being a man, I have a knowledge of these products and I'm not exactly the authority on women's hygene.
